Job Description: Kindergarten Teacher

In a classroom environment, the lead teacher will plan and supervise a warm, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for the development of the whole child, while meeting high educational standards. The teacher will lead an environment that embraces student voice, engagement, growth, and creativity. The teacher will design and construct a student centered classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain a classroom environment that facilitates active, hands on learning

  • Promote creative and critical thinking skills through a child centered classroom that navigates and facilitates the daily lessons

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and adaptability

  • Implement a rigorous curriculum that sets high expectations for students

  • Teach foundations English reading and math

  • Teach science and social studies lessons provided

  • Monitor student progress regularly

  • Communicate effectively with parents, school administration, and school staff

  • Cultivate Jewish core values such as respect, kindness, and integrity

  • Maintain a positive and supportive working relationship with Teacher assistant(s)

RequirementsLead teacher will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s degree preferred) and hold certification and/or license in related fields with a minimum of 1-3 years of teaching experience.Please contact Mrs. Brittney Friedman (bfriedman@hillelpgh.org) for more information.
