Job Summary

QLD Biotherapeutics is at the forefront of Cell and Gene Therapy, developing innovative treatments for eye diseases, neurological disorders, and tumors. We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist/Scientist to join our In Vivo Pharmacology team, focusing on early drug discovery and technology development. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with various rodent animal models in a fast-paced and collaborative research environment.

You will work closely with an experienced drug discovery team, contributing to the early stages of research and development. This position provides excellent learning and career growth opportunities for those passionate about preclinical research and therapeutic innovation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for in vivo ophthalmology studies, including establishment and evaluation of ocular disease models, intraocular dosing in mice (e.g., intravitreal injection, subretinal injection), as well as tissue collection and processing.
  • Perform routine in vivo procedures such as animal handling and mice surveillance.
  • Support efficacy, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), and toxicology studies.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, including equipment upkeep, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Organize and present experimental data at project meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant industry or research experience, or a Ph.D. with 1-3 years of relevant experience;
  • Strong background in ophthalmic disease research, with hands-on experience in mouse models of ocular diseases such as neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and geographic atrophy (GA).
  • Demonstrated expertise in mouse intraocular dosing techniques, particularly intravitreal and subretinal injections.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience with heart disease models is a plus.
