Summer Camp Specialist: STEM, Sports, Dance, and more

Job Description

Join Our Team This Summer – Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp

Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp, a Young Judaea Hebrew dual-language program in Red Hook, Brooklyn, is hiring Activity Specialists for the upcoming summer. We serve children entering Pre-K through 5th grade, and no Hebrew background is needed to join our community.

Sprout Brooklyn is where kids from all kinds of families and backgrounds discover a shared sense of belonging — through joyful programming, Jewish values, and a growing connection to the Hebrew language and Israel. Our staff reflects that same spirit: upbeat, flexible, and fully invested in making every day meaningful for our youngest campers.

What Makes This Role Unique

Unlike a traditional counselor position, Activity Specialists at Sprout Brooklyn have the creative freedom to design and teach their own informal curriculum. Your lessons are rooted in your area of expertise while naturally incorporating Jewish values, Hebrew, and/or connections to Israel — and if that's new territory for you, we'll help you get there.

Each day, you'll lead 30-minute sessions with small groups of 12–14 campers spanning a range of ages and grade levels.

Specialties We're Hiring For

We are currently looking for specialists in: Music, Sports, Dance, Hebrew, Martial Arts, Science, Robotics, Drama, and more! Teach something we didn't mention? Reach out anyway — we love adding new offerings to our program.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Program Director on weekly lesson planning
  • Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities
  • Foster skill-building and curiosity in every session
  • Integrate Jewish values, Hebrew language, and Israel connections into your programming
  • Support camp-wide events and activities as needed
  • Stay adaptable and bring a flexible, positive energy every day

Who We're Looking For

Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a minimum of two years of experience teaching their specialty to children, plus hands-on experience working with kids ages 3–10. Camp experience is a plus but not a dealbreaker. Hebrew fluency is welcome but not expected. Most importantly, we want someone who brings genuine enthusiasm and isn't afraid to be a little silly.

Compensation & Schedule

Salary ranges from $3,800 to $5,100 based on role and experience. The position also includes approximately 15 hours of pre-camp curriculum development. Staff training is mandatory June 14–18, and camp runs Monday through Friday, June 22–August 14, from 8:30am to 4:15pm.
