Since 1972, the Missouri Division of Fire Safety / Office of the State Fire Marshal has been the State of Missouri’s premier regulatory oversight and enforcement agency for Fire Investigations, Fire Inspections, Elevator and Amusement Ride Safety, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety, and Firefighter Training and Certification. The Division provides services to over 25,000 firefighters in Missouri, as well as to the 6.1 million residents and over 40 million visitors to the state, each year.

As a member of the Elevator and Amusement Ride Safety Unit, you would be an integral part of a team responsible for compliance and general public safety regarding elevators, escalators, moving walks, dumbwaiters and related equipment, as well as the safe operation and compliance of amusement rides.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

Job Description:

  • This is an intermediate level of clerical and keyboarding position involving moderate difficulty and complexity of tasks.
  • You will be responsible for:
    • Providing the necessary clerical support to the Elevator and Amusement Ride Safety Unit.
    • Typing of correspondence for the Unit.
    • Managing incoming telephone calls to the Unit.
    • Entry of inspection reports into databases.
    • Maintaining the elevator safety inspection filing system.
    • Handling and processing of mail.
Qualifications - All you need for success
  • Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited four-year high school, or in lieu thereof, shall have obtained a certificate of equivalency from the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
    • One year of relevant clerical experience.
  • Additional Qualifications and Requirements

    • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions and to maintain complex records.
    • Must be able to operate standard office equipment such as adding, calculating, fax, and copy machines.
    • Must have thorough knowledge of PC operating system, Windows, and Microsoft Office programs.
    • Familiar with general accounting procedures.
