Summary:The Richer laboratory in the Department of Pathology seeks a highly motivated individual preferably with at
least 1 year of experience handling rodents (primarily mice). The research projects involve investigations into the role of hormone
receptors in breast cancer metastasis and differences in hormonal treatment response lobular versus ductal breast cancer.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Administer drugs via various routes (such as oral gavage, i.v. and i.p injections) (15%).
- Monitor breast
tumor growth in mice by caliper and IVIS imaging (15%).
- Track mouse weights/data/general welfare checks (15%).
- Perform
euthanasia of mice following completion of studies. (10%).
- Keeping database of all the above (10%).
- Transplant patient
xenograft explants and injecting breast cancer cell lines into mouse mammary fat pad (5%).
- Dissect tumors and tissues for
immunohistochemistry, RNA, and protein analysis (although experience in those techniques not necessary) (10%).
- Tissue culture:
growing breast cancer cells for transplantation and injection (10%).
- Cleaning/sterilizing lab glassware (5%).
- Making general
lab solutions (5%).
Work Location:Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located
in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular
biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
- (1) year of relevant professional level experience working with
rodents.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the
United States without requiring sponsorship. We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship or employment authorization for this position

Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree in biology, molecular biology,
chemistry, genetics or related field
- Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and
techniques
- Knowledge of human stem cell research techniques
- Knowledge of mouse pancreas research techniques
- Ability
to analyze immunofluorescent data
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
- Outstanding customer service
skills
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy,
physiology medical terminology
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
- Willing to work with
cells, tissues and laboratory mice

Anticipated Pay Range:The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as
$52,030 - $69,720.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the
range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the
level.
