This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a deep understanding of Japanese dining culture to ensure a high-quality and authentic customer experience in a fast-paced urban hospitality environment. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Operations Management • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, ensuring smooth service during lunch and dinner periods. • Manage staff rosters, shift planning, and workflow in alignment with peak CBD trading hours. • Monitor service quality and ensure consistent delivery of premium dining experiences. Customer Experience & Service • Maintain high standards of customer service reflecting Japanese hospitality principles. • Handle customer feedback, complaints, and service recovery professionally. • Ensure a welcoming and culturally authentic dining atmosphere. Team Leadership • Recruit, train, and supervise front-of-house and support staff. • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment in a multicultural setting. • Provide ongoing staff training on service standards, menu knowledge, and Japanese dining etiquette. Financial & Inventory Management • Manage daily sales, budgeting, and cost control to maximise profitability. • Oversee stock ordering, supplier coordination, and inventory control. • Monitor food and beverage cost ratios and implement efficiency strategies. Compliance & Administration • Ensure compliance with New Zealand employment laws, health & safety regulations, and food control plans. • Maintain accurate records including staff documentation, payroll inputs, and operational reports. • Coordinate with directors regarding business performance and strategic improvements.
