Terms of Employment: Regular, full-time 12-month position, with University benefit package. Position open until filled.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Hall Supervisor position is a full time, live-in position staff member who is responsible for the daily operations of the residence hall including providing leadership and management of the residential community
- Hire, train, and supervise all student employees (resident assistants and student custodians) and hold weekly resident assistant meetings
- Supervise and build relationships with residents
- Enforce policies and procedures in the residence hall
- Prepare the building for check-in (check and order keys, maintenance, room assignments) and check-out (room inspection, assess damages, inventory of building contents, complete maintenance report)
- Respond to resident, employee, or building emergencies
- Assist the Housing Director in developing a Residential Curriculum Model and implementing the requirements / activities within the residence halls
- Develop a sense of community among members and focus on social development
- Supervise and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of the residents
- Developing, promoting, and implementing various residence hall activities within the administered budget
- Day to day operations of a residence hall that include but are not limited to daily rounds, work orders, student tracking, communicating with residents, supervising residence assistant desk hours, collecting housing paperwork, and implementing occasional room checks
- Conduct monthly health and safety room checks in the residence hall
- Inspecting and monitoring the building daily, inside and outside, and responding immediately to problems or irregularities within the facility, including cleanliness
- Work assigned on-call weekends
- Organize and oversee camps within the residence halls in the summer
- Other tasks designated by the Director of Housing
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or university housing experience preferred. Well-developed computer skills, oral and written communication skills, and organization skills are essential. The ability to supervise and lead resident assistants and student custodians. The ability to work with diverse populations in a university setting is imperative. The Hall Supervisor must have the ability to work in high pressure situations. They must also have enthusiasm, knowledge, creativity and experience working with students The Hall Supervisor must show commitment to a student’s academic, social, and personal success within the residence halls.
