Part-Time Music Teacher

Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Music Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for music while building their skills in performance, music theory, and appreciation of diverse musical traditions. The Music Teacher will design and implement a program that engages students in both individual and group learning experiences, fostering creativity, discipline, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver an engaging, age-appropriate music curriculum for students in grades 5–8.
• Teach fundamental skills such as rhythm, pitch, notation, and music literacy.
• Introduce students to a wide variety of musical styles, traditions, and instruments.
• Prepare and lead students in musical performances at school events and community gatherings.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation, creativity, and respect for diverse musical backgrounds.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate music into cross-curricular projects.
• Assess student progress through performances, projects, and class participation, providing constructive feedback.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and engagement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably in a middle school setting.
• Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and a variety of musical genres.
• Ability to teach basic instrumental and/or vocal techniques.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Commitment to the mission of Nativity Prep and to the holistic education of young boys from low-income families.
