Motive Auto Restorers in East Tamaki is looking for an experienced Vehicle Restoration Specialist/Panel Beater to join our team in our vehicle restoration workshop. This role is focused primarily on classic vehicle restoration and vehicle body repairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing and restoring classic vehicles to their original condition, takes pride in their craft and consistently delivers exceptional results. What We’re Looking For: This role is suited to someone who takes pride in their work, values quality over speed, and is committed to producing high-end results to a consistently high standard. This is not a junior role. You must be currently operating at a level with proven, real-world experience in vehicle panel and rust repair. Duties include a range of responsibilities - complete vehicle restorations, driveline in and out work, panel beating, paint prep, rust removal and corrosion protection. You’ll need to be able to disassemble and re-assemble a complete vehicle, labelling and storing all parts during the rebuild process. Excellent problem-solving skills are required, along with good common sense and the ability to think outside the box to solve problems. A positive attitude towards growth and a willingness to work as a team are must-have qualities at our workshop. The Role: • Repairing and gapping vehicle panels, ensuring quality panel fitment • Body refinishing from bare metal through to the paintwork stage • Repair rust and other types of corrosion across all vehicle types • Metal fabrication to create unique repair patches and panels • Assessment of vehicle damage and determining repair methods • Repairing or replacing damaged panels using appropriate tools and techniques • Ensuring the highest level of quality and craftsmanship in all repairs • High-end restoration across all vehicle makes and models • Working on high quality vehicle builds where finish and attention to detail matter • Stripping and fitting all vehicle parts, labelling and storing parts as required • Restoring and saving obsolete vehicle panels and parts Essential Skills and Experience: • Minimum of 5 years industry experience required • Proficiency in using panel beating tools and equipment • Knowledge of vehicle systems and repair techniques • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work • Excellent problem-solving skills • Proven experience in restoration or the panel beating industry • Close attention to detail and pride in workmanship • Ability to work independently and as a team member • MIG & TIG welding skills required • Chassis machine experience desired, but not required • Full & clean NZ drivers license required • Must be able to operate vehicles equipped with Manual transmissions.
