Position Overview
The AV Install Lead Technician is responsible for leading the day-to-day installation effort on assigned projects. This position combines hands-on technical work with field coordination, crew leadership, quality control, documentation, and communication with project management. The Lead Tech is expected to understand installation standards, direct other technicians as needed, identify and solve problems in the field, and help ensure projects are completed safely, cleanly, and in accordance with MediaVine’s expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Installation Leadership and Field Execution
· Lead on-site installation activities for audio, video, lighting, and control systems
· Direct and support install technicians and subcontract labor on assigned projects
· Review drawings, scope, and project details prior to and during installation to ensure proper execution
· Coordinate field progress with the Project Manager and communicate schedule impacts, site issues, or unforeseen conditions immediately
· Maintain installation quality, consistency, and productivity across all phases of work
· Take ownership of assigned tasks and proactively identify next steps, deficiencies, or required corrections before they affect project completion
Technical Installation Work
· Assemble, install, troubleshoot, and verify audio, video, lighting, control, and rack-based systems
· Pull, terminate, label, dress, and manage cabling including XLR, RJ45, TRS, BNC, F-Conn, and other low-voltage infrastructure
· Mount and install displays, projectors, loudspeakers, cameras, lighting fixtures, equipment racks, and associated hardware
· Perform continuity, pass/fail, and other basic system verification testing
· Identify installation issues in the field and complete repairs, corrections, or adjustments as needed
· Support final system testing, punch list completion, and project closeout activities
· Documentation and Project Reporting
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation including field notes, photos, redlines, markups, as-builts, and file updates
· Use MediaVine’s required software and systems including G-Suite, digital filing systems, project update platforms, and related company tools
· Complete time tracking, installation service tickets, and required paperwork accurately and on time
· Assist with project handoff documentation, operation and maintenance materials, and client training where required
Equipment, Vehicles, and Job Site Readiness
· Load, unload, transport, and organize tools, materials, and equipment for job sites and warehouse operations
· Operate company vehicles safely and in accordance with company policy
· Maintain accountability for company tools, job site materials, and assigned equipment
· Keep job sites, vehicles, and work areas organized, clean, and professional throughout the project lifecycle
Safety and Professional Standards
· Adhere to company, client, and OSHA safety requirements at all times
· Lead by example in maintaining safe job site practices and proper use of ladders, lifts, rigging methods, and personal protective equipment
· Carry out installations in alignment with MediaVine’s quality and performance standards
· Represent the company professionally with clients, contractors, consultants, and other trades on site
Team Development
· Provide direction, support, and mentorship to junior technicians and newer installers
· Help train team members on installation methods, workflow expectations, and system best practices
· Participate in project meetings, safety briefings, and continued technical development
· Stay current with relevant AVL technologies, installation practices, and field standards
Qualifications
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· 3–5 years of experience in AVL installation, low-voltage integration, telecommunications, construction, or closely related technical field preferred
· Previous experience leading job site crews or taking primary ownership of field execution
Technical Skills
· Strong proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and common AV installation methods
· Working understanding of AV system signal flow, networking basics, drawings, blueprints, schematics, and installation details
· Ability to terminate, test, verify, troubleshoot, and repair AV and low-voltage connections
· Experience with platforms such as G-Suite, D-Tools, Q-SYS, Dante Controller, and Audio Architect preferred
· Ability to work independently in the field and make sound installation decisions within project scope
Leadership and Communication
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to lead crews, delegate clearly, and maintain accountability in the field
· Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
· Able to work independently while coordinating effectively with project managers, team members, clients, and trade partners
· Strong organizational habits, attention to detail, and commitment to quality control
Required Licenses and Certifications
· Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and eligibility for coverage under company auto insurance policy
· Aerial scissors, boom, and forklift certification preferred or to be provided by MediaVine
Preferred Certifications
· AVIXA CTS or CTS-I
· Dante Level 1
· QSC/Q-SYS Level 1
· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, with 30 preferred
· ETCP rigging certification is a plus
Working Conditions
· Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and lifts, and work at heights above 6 feet
· Fine motor function and dexterity for detailed equipment installation
· Ability to work in active construction environments including dust, confined spaces, and areas without climate control
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Occasional irregular hours or weekend work based on project demands
· Travel expected primarily to local and regional job sites, with occasional out-of-state work as needed
Job Type and Compensation
· Job Type: Full-time, in-person
· Schedule: Monday through Friday, with some weekend work as needed
· Compensation: Salary or Hourly to be based on experience, leadership ability, and technical qualifications (Range $70,000 - $85,000). Overtime and bonus opportunities
