What We’re Looking For:

We are currently hiring a full-time non-exempt (overtime qualified) Cold Storage Forklift Operator. As a Twin City Foods (Lake Odessa Division) Forklift Operator your main purpose would be to ensure that the product is being transferred with care to the processing floor, warehouse, and/or on trucks or rail cars for pick-up and delivery.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pick load(s) for shipments.
  • Load and unload semi-trucks.
  • Slip sheet pallets when necessary.
  • Manually move cases.
  • Load and unload rail cars.
  • Clean up messes that are caused from forked or dropped product.
  • Minor repairs on pallets when necessary.
  • Maintain necessary documentation.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION

1. Must have experience driving a fork truck.

2. Must maintain good attendance.

3. Must be able to work alone/self motivation.

4. Must be able to communicate, verbal and written with supervisor, peers, and outside contractors.

5. Must be able to think and troubleshoot logically.

6. Must be able to follow orders and directions.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB POSITION

This job position requires the following minimum physical abilities to adequately perform the above activities:


1. STANDING – The employee needs to be able to sit for most of the shift (on a Hilo) and must be able to stand and walk for the remainder of the shift.

2. PACE - The pace of the job is set by the speed of the production line and the number of lines running on any particular day. It may best be described as a quick pace set by outside factors.

3. LIFTING - The maximum lifting would be up to 50 lbs. without a hoist or other helping mechanism, with a lifting frequency of about 2 hours per day. The lifting activities can be anywhere from the floor level to above the shoulder level.

4. TWISTING – In this job position, there is intermittent twisting.

5. PUSH/PULL – There is intermittent pushing and pulling activity of approximately 50 lbs.
