Cidermaking Team Member

Job Description

About Tandem Ciders

Tandem Ciders is a craft cidery rooted in Leelanau County, Michigan. We press and ferment locally grown fruit for cider lovers near and far. Our small, tight-knit production team takes pride in the craft behind every batch, from fruit intake to finished package. Our customers appreciate the care we add to make ciders that are true to the apples grown in Michigan.

The Role

Tandem Ciders is looking for a reliable, hardworking person to join our production crew. This role is team-oriented and you will work alongside other production team members to press, ferment, and package cider. Days will be varied and will include duties associated with producing a high-quality alcoholic product. Production responsibilities are hands-on and collaborative, and we are looking for someone that is willing to go that extra mile. This position will be a critical part of our pressing and packaging operations, as well as duties associated with maintaining a medium size production facility. No prior cider or beverage experience is required, but if you have a background in cider, beer, wine, food manufacturing, or farming, we would love to hear about it. This position includes operation of production and farm equipment.

What You’ll Do

Reports To: Head of Production

  • Assist with apple pressing operations: fruit receiving, pressing, and juice transfer
  • Operate canning, bottling, kegging, and labeling equipment to package finished cider
  • Support general cellar operations: transfers, racking, cleaning, and production record-keeping

  • Operate a forklift to move raw materials, supplies, and finished goods
  • Keep production spaces clean, organized, and up to food safety standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious — this is a small team and everyone counts
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions carefully and consistently
  • Comfortable with physical work: regularly lifting 30 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs, extended time on your feet, and working in cold, wet, and loud environments
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Prior experience in beverage production, food manufacturing, or agriculture is a plus — but not required
  • Forklift experience a plus; training will be provided

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $20–22/hr depending on experience; candidates with relevant backgrounds are encouraged to apply
  • Paid time off
  • Safety equipment stipend
  • Opportunities to attend events, conferences, and other team-building occasions.
  • Employee cider and taproom perks
