or machine learning-based methods) to study the mechanistic regulation of physiological systems.
Areas of interest include, but are
not limited to, neural circuit dynamics, sensorimotor systems, neuroengineering, and computational modeling of biological systems.
Successful applicants are expected to maintain an externally funded research program and contribute to graduate and professional teaching
within the Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead an independent, externally funded research program in physiology,
neuroscience, or related fields
- Apply quantitative, computational, or data-driven approaches to investigate biological
systems
- Contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations, including partnerships across neuroscience, engineering, and computational
disciplines
- Mentor graduate students and trainees in experimental and/or computational research

siology), under the leadership of Dr. David DiGregorio, with a commitment to mentoring faculty and trainees from all backgrounds.
Research interests in the Department currently include cardiac and skeletal muscle physiology, ion channel biophysics, molecular physiology,
cell signaling, sensory and motor systems, and synaptic function. Extra-departmental interactions within molecular biophysics, neuroscience
and physiology, including basic science and translational collaborations, are facilitated by several NIH-supported interdepartmental
graduate programs and centers (e.g., Neuroscience Program, Pharmacology program, Structural Biology and Biochemistry program). Other shared
resources include cores for biophysics and molecular interactions, molecular structure, electron microscopy, genomics, proteomics, and
transgenic rodents. The Department is particularly interested in expanding strengths in computational and systems neuroscience, quantitative
biology, and interdisciplinary research at the interface of biology, engineering, and data science.
