Overview

We seek a dynamic SVP, Commerce Strategy (eCommerce), reporting to the EVP of Commerce Practice, to drive significant CPG client success. This role involves cultivating strong retail partner relationships, developing impactful go-to-market strategies, mentoring a high-performing team, and ensuring operational excellence. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned eCommerce expert to deliver exceptional results for a globally recognized brand.

The SVP, Commerce Strategy will be the strategic lead on one of our newest clients within Zenith. In this role, you will provide consistently superior commerce media strategies, ideas and marketplace solutions tailored to the client's category. You will be responsible for advancing the client's unique position within their key retail customers, as well as defining standards and best practices to deliver innovative and flawless campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Key lead for client conversations, acts as bridge between media and shopper team for streamlining omni-channel strategies with key retail partners

  • Interpret client needs, and develop strategic solutions that address the needs and goals for their business

  • Partner closely with Search and Precision counterparts to ensure commerce plans fit within overall go-to-market approach

  • Support JBP negotiations annually

  • Partner with IAT agency leads across National Media, Creative, Technology, and Strategy to deliver connected commerce plans to the client

  • Serve as primary day-to-day liaison between Zenith and client.

  • Direct the development, presentation and maintenance of commerce media plans. Including objectives, strategic initiatives, updates and point-of-views (POVs) on proposals.

  • Provide direction to buyers and planners in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure all buys and executions of media plans adhere to agreed upon planning strategies and are properly communicated to client.

  • Ensure a robust training program for all members of the team is in place

  • Ability to anticipate and quickly assess continually changing client needs and adapt resources and strategies accordingly

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills

  • Excellent leadership ability to drive team to deliver results

Management Skills

  • Fiscal Accountability: Oversees financial performance across clients by expanding relationships with current clients, identifying upsell opportunities, and takes a leading role in new business activity

  • Cross-Department Coordination: Leads cross-functional collaboration with other departments to ensure integrated solutions, aligning strategies across teams to deliver cohesive and impactful results for clients

  • Strategy & Innovation: Leads the execution of strategies within the commerce media team, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and driving innovation in line with the agency's vision

  • Client & Market Representation: Acts as a senior representative of the commerce media team, maintaining relationships with key clients and representing the agency at industry events and high-profile client meetings

  • Team Leadership: Mentors Vice Presidents and senior leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, driving leadership development and succession planning within the department

  • Organizational Leadership: Leads department-wide initiatives focused on improving operational excellence, talent development, and growth, ensuring the team is well-positioned to deliver results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, concentration in business, marketing, or advertising preferred but not required

  • 12+ years of account management experience in ecommerce/retail media; 10+ years within commerce strategy, agency experience highly preferred

  • 8+ years of demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams, fostering innovation and collaboration

  • Extensive experience managing large-scale teams in the digital environment, with a clear understanding of media planning and buying processes.

  • Expert understanding of channel landscape, buying platforms and new/evolving product offerings

  • Demonstrated problem solving, organization, and project management skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and represent the agency in the marketplace

  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in driving revenue growth and managing budgets

  • Experience working within the Home & Garden category, an added plus

  • Strong comfort with key retail media technologies such as automation tools(pacvue, skai, etc), buying platforms such as Amazon and Walmart Search and DSP, and measurement partners.

Compensation Range: $180,000 - $238,000 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
