Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Solutions Architect (Mastery) to join the Wealth Management Technology division within the Sales & Distribution Architecture team.

This role acts as a shared service supporting MassMutual’s primary distribution channels, focusing on delivering scalable, modern, and high-performing technology solutions aligned with business goals and strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader, bridging business stakeholders, vendors, and engineering teams to drive innovation and modernization.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Roadmap

• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to define target operating models and long-term technology vision
• Develop and maintain domain-specific technology roadmaps

Solution Design

• Design scalable and reusable architecture components (APIs & Microservices)
• Implement service-based architectures using event-driven and API-first approaches
• Enable decoupled digital and backend ecosystems

Technical Leadership

• Act as a liaison between business teams, vendors, and engineering
• Lead architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical governance
• Ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards

Execution

• Partner with development teams to translate architecture into implementation
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure quality and consistency

Optimization

• Evaluate current systems to identify gaps, redundancies, and improvement areas
• Recommend technology investments and modernization strategies
• Lead POCs and technical assessments

Community Engagement

• Contribute to architecture forums, review boards, and guilds
• Share best practices and promote architectural standards

Required Skills & QualificationsExperience

• 5+ years of hands-on development experience designing complex systems
• 8+ years as a Solutions Architect, Tech Lead, or Lead Designer
• 2+ years working in Sales & Distribution domains such as:
• Marketing
• Wealth Management
• Insurance Distribution
• Incentive Management

Cloud & Integration

• Strong experience with AWS cloud architecture, development, and deployment

Protocols & Messaging

• Expertise in:
• REST, SOAP, JSON
• Event streaming (Kafka preferred)

Data Expertise

• Experience with database design, data modeling, ETL, and scheduling
• Familiarity with financial, insurance, or investment data domains

Soft Skills

• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
• Ability to collaborate across teams, vendors, and stakeholders

Technical Documentation

• Experience creating architectural artifacts, solution designs, and technical documentation

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) QualificationsCertifications

• AWS Certifications (highly preferred)

Full-Stack Expertise

• 7+ years across frontend, backend, and integration technologies

Platform & Tools

• DevOps / Infrastructure: Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
• Backend & Data: Vertica, Kong, Salesforce
• Frontend: React, Next.js

Domain & Niche Experience

• Experience with:
• DTCC
• Fidelity NFS/IWS
• SAP
• Financial Planning or Life/Annuity platforms
