Responsibilities - What you’ll do
  • Handle all incoming calls to the office, take general information from the callers, and route the calls appropriately.
  • Provide accurate, knowledgeable and customer-focused responses to general inquiries raised by inmate families, legislative representatives and the public about departmental policies, procedures and practices.
  • Provide direct clerical support to the Constituent Services Unit and Public Information Office.
  • Complete meeting minutes for Constituent Services Team and submit to Manager for review
  • Complete detailed evaluation, summary and computerized logging and tracking of all incoming and outgoing contacts to the office and prepare statistical analysis reports from that data.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail daily.
  • Provide general overall management of electronic operations for the unit, including paperless filing.
  • Provide office support for computer and telephone related issues.
  • Maintain phone and institutional contact lists for Constituent Services Unit
  • Maintain Constituent Services Desk Reference Manual
  • Route offender interview requests and incoming Sunshine Law requests from members of the news media.
  • Assist with compiling news updates from facilities and offices throughout the state.
  • Provide support in preparing, writing, proofreading and/or distributing print and electronic publications.
  • Schedule and coordinate office travel, training, meetings, activities and events.
  • Track and route internal requests for website updates.
  • Responsible for all office purchases, supplies, etc.
Qualifications - All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications:

One or more years of experience as an Administrative Support Assistant (SOSA) with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency OR

Four or more years of office or related clerical experience; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

(Training from an accredited vocational or business school in Office Management, Secretarial Science, or a closely related field may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours, or 480 clock hours, for one year.)

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)

Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:

  • A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
  • A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
  • A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
