A vacancy exists for a PreK Counts Teacher Assistant to work within the Office of Early Childhood Services at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. This full-time position provides classroom support to children ages 3-5 years old.

Qualifications:
  • CDA or Associate's Degree preferred, High School Diploma required (must obtain Credential of Competency upon hire).
  • Ability to perform the following physical activities: stoop, run, sit, stand, walk, bend, lift children, carry thirty (30) pounds, be outside in all seasons, be inside, prepare food, hear within normal ranges, and see within normal ranges.
  • Ability to work with and relate to young children and families of diverse backgrounds.
  • Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, the Child Abuse Registry and PDE FBI.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist the teacher by performing essential classroom tasks
  • Help to supervise and accompany students during activities within and outside the classroom
  • Aid the teacher by working with the students in small groups or on an individual basis in various instructional and learning activities.

Location:

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit PreK Counts program has classrooms located throughout Montgomery County, PA. More information on the PreK Counts program can be found at https://mciu.org/office-of-early-childhood-services/pre-k-counts/. This position is available at the following location:
  • Discovery Center (375 Morris Rd. Lansdale, PA)

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)

Hourly Rate:
  • Starting at $19.65/hour for High School Diploma/CDA/Associate's Degree (non-Early Childhood Education related)
  • Starting at $20.77/hour for Associate's Degree (Early Childhood Education related)
