Minimum Qualification

There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and speak and write in English.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will report to the Office of Fire Prevention and Control's Academy of Fire Science.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Food Service Assistants follow the direction of a higher-level team member and perform a variety of tasks related to food storage, preparation, and service:
  • Wash food service equipment, including garbage cans and general kitchen cooking utensils, by hand and machine, using a variety of cleaning substances.
  • Wash storage areas, including food preparation areas, by hand and machine, using a variety of cleaning substances.
  • Store deliveries in appropriate areas.
  • Bring food and other supplies to preparation and serving areas as directed.
  • Clean fruits, vegetables, and potatoes, in preparation for cooking as directed.
  • Cook grill-type foods such as hamburgers and eggs.
  • Serve food in the proper portions to students.
  • Ensure students on special diets receive proper food and portions.
  • Wash and sanitize dining room areas including chairs, tables, and floors.
  • Various duties as assigned.

This position will be scheduled 37.5 hours each week between the hours of 6AM to 7PM and include evening, weekend, and non-continuous hours.

Must have, or be willing to obtain, ServSafe food safety training and certification.

NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.

Pay: $34,312.00 - $42,565.00 per year
