I. ROLE:
As a Bread Baker, you will be an integral part in creating excellent sourdough bread in an efficient, professional manner. You will immerse yourself in the craft of baking sourdough breads and other baked goods. You will get first hand training and mentorship from Voyageurs Bakehouse Head Baker Jake and the leaders in the current bread team.
Being a Bread Baker means you are efficient with the highest focus on unwavering consistency of your finished product for ultimate customer satisfaction. You must be comfortable working at a fast pace, quick to problem solve, have high attention to detail, and possess a good understanding of baking techniques.
To be a successful Bread Baker, you need to be a communicative team player with excellent time management skills so you can prioritize tasks in a busy setting while adhering to all food safety regulations and procedures.
Your title will be BREAD BAKER and you will report to the Company’s Co-Owner, Ben and Head Baker Jake
II. RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are responsibilities of the Bread Baker.
● Learning all the skills of a bread baker; preparing ingredients, mixing, shaping, baking, and logistics preparation of your final product.
● Actively seeks areas for cleaning and maintenance during slow or inactive baking times.
● Responsible for ensuring you follow all food safety guidelines and procedures.
● Keeping your workspace clean and organized, as well as contributing to the professionalism and cleanliness of the Bakehouse.
● Testing ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality controls.
● Cleaning and restocking workstations with ingredients and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift to ensure that the bakery is a clean space that operates optimally.
● Willingness to work independently or with other team members to solve problems and create amazing baked goods.
● High quality of communication with the bread team leaders, and Co-Owners to ensure performance and efficiency is the best it can be.
III. PERSONAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
The personal skills that is required for the job:
● Ideally minimum 1 year working experience in a bakery mixing, handling dough and baking bread.
● Having a friendly, open and positive attitude while maintaining a high standard of communication; willing to take accountability and responsibility instead of blame or accusation.
● Being an early morning person is a must. Shifts start between 4 am & 7am.
● Having the ability to work under occasional pressure during busy times - and even thriving during these exciting growth weeks.
● An effective, well organized and efficient team player with a strong sense of problem solving and time management.
● The ability to adhere to a high standard of cleanliness and organization which will help the Bakehouse operate as a fun and well maintained space for the Crew and our customers alike.
● Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.
● Need to be willing to learn, multi-task, take instruction and work under your own initiative, while also supporting other team members.
● Excellent standards of personal presentation, smart appearance and articulate communication.

COMPENSATION
The starting wage for this position ranges between $15 - $18 per hour depending on experience, with a sharing in the company-wide tip pool (ranging between an extra $2.50 -
$4.00 per hour depending on pay period).

The Bakehouse is an open concept bakery with a cafe dining space that invites customers in to greet their friends and family, and learn more about the artisan craft of sourdough and traditional baked goods.
