We are a growing mixed animal veterinary practice in Northern Kentucky seeking a veterinary assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate is a receptive learner comfortable working with a variety of animal species. We are happy to teach and train an enthuiastic team player looking for a positive work environment.
Typical Responsibilities:
- General clerical duties such as answering phone calls and emails, scheduling, preparing and filing paperwork, reviewing medical records, and processing payments.
- Greeting clients and checking animals into and out of appointments and surgeries.
- Animal restraint and handling, assisting veterinary team with exams, procedures, and surgeries.
- Taking of patient history and handling, mixing, and administration of medications, including controlled substances.
- Cleaning of cages and medical equipment, preparation of medical packs.
- Appropriate medical charting of appointments, medications, and client communications.
- Collection of samples and running basic in-house lab tests.
Preferred Experience:
- No experience in the veterinary industry required (though helpful!), though the ideal candidate is comfortable around animals and possesses animal handling experience. Starting pay is commensurate with experience.
- One year customer service experience in a client-facing position
Required skills:
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft desktop applications such as Word, and Google interfaces such as Gmail and Google Voice.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively via telephone, email, text, and in person.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and remain calm and composed in difficult situations.
- Ability to work and communicate as part of a team in busy environments.
