Job Duties:

This position is responsible for implementing Head Start Program Performance Standards related to family and community services, with a focus on eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, attendance (ERSEA), health, and family and community partnerships. The role builds strong relationships with families to identify goals, strengths, and needed services through home visits, assessments, and ongoing follow‑up. It supports families in accessing resources such as health care, crisis assistance, education, counseling, and employment training, while also helping them engage in their child’s development and advocate during transitions. The position provides health, nutrition, and safety information to parents and assists with medical and dental follow‑through. It also guides staff on ERSEA and health requirements, actively recruits families to maintain full enrollment, and promotes consistent attendance. Additionally, the role collaborates with community organizations to expand access to health, mental health, nutrition, and disability services, and offers recommendations to leadership to support continuous improvement.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Builds partnerships with parents to identify family goals, strengths, necessary services, and other supports
  • Provides recommendations and feedback to unit leadership
  • Establish on-going, collaborative relationships with community organizations to promote access to health care, mental health, nutritional service providers, and services to children with disabilities and their families
  • Provides guidance and feedback to staff working with families on health services and on eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance requirements
  • Refers families to services and resources, including emergency/crisis assistance, accessing on-going health care, education, counseling, and employment training, and services. Follows up with families to ensure appropriate intervention and delivery of services

Compensation:

Base Salary Range $40,879 - $44,756

Prorated Salary of $34,584 - $37,863 for 44 weeks of work each year from first week in August to the second week in June.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field.

  • One year experience working with young children and their families.

  • Valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of UW Oshkosh Head Start, Family Service Credential or general Head Start experience.

  • Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural issues and local community practices.

  • Skills and knowledge to access appropriate community resources.

  • Experience using the Child Plus data system.
