Position Summary & Responsibilities

Health Promotion and Public Health Education-
Plans, develops, implements, and coordinates promotional, educational, and informational health services programs for cancer prevention and control. Acts as a consultant to community groups, health organizations, and other partners in the promotion of health programs. Plans, prepares, edits, and distributes health information materials such as pamphlets, bulletins, reports, brochures, presentations, visual aids, newspaper releases, etc. Plans, develops, and presents public health and information resource packages to be used in health promotion and risk reduction programs, public health information, and education activities.
Evidence-Based Intervention Coordination-
Coordinates Early Detection Works (EDW) education/outreach activities. This includes development of statewide approaches to meet funder criteria for evidence-based interventions to reach prioritized populations. Serve as lead worker for regional education/outreach staff and vendors. Coordinate with the University of Kansas Department of Preventive Medicine to develop and provide tools, technical assistance and mentoring for new education/outreach staff and CHWs. Provides outreach including education and information about breast, cervical, colorectal, and cardiovascular health to target populations within regional assignments and other areas as assigned. Assists with program eligibility and enrollment procedures for the EDW program by working with EDW contracted partners.
Collaboration-
Coordinate activities with EDW, community partners, and other agency health systems initiatives. Provide training to staff (i.e., CHWs) hired by EDW providers to ensure delivery of funder-required data. Manage related vendor contracts as assigned. Provide support as necessary to relevant coalitions and programs (i.e., Kansas Cancer Partnership, Kansas Community Health Worker Coalition, Kansas Community Care Alliance, Cancer Roundtables, etc.). This includes coordinating strategic planning, educational activities and other initiatives, and working with other agency programs to coordinate resources to support project implementation. Represent the agency at state and national meetings and conferences as assigned.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Grant Management
Work with supervisor and EDW Clinical Manager to ensure funder deliverables related to patient navigation are met. Assists EDW Clinical Manager and Cancer Programs Manager with monitoring progress and completion of grant deliverables. This could include running and writing reports and assisting in gathering information for budget preparation and maintenance. Prepares and maintains records and reports regarding educational activities and current events. Reviews data entry via forms and Catalyst reports for accuracy. Assures that providers are contacted for missing and incomplete information as delegated by regional nurse.
