Why you’ll love this position: The Roadway Safety Data Analyst performs routine activities related to roadway safety data, including running data queries in Microsoft Access as well as other database tools, assembling data needs for Highway Safety programs and projects, and working with MoDOT planning partners to make informed decisions and identify locations for safety improvements. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

What you’ll do:

  • Query, assemble, and review traffic crash records for network screening, countermeasure evaluation, and performance management.
  • Analyze safety data related to the roadway system, including frequency and location of crashes, contributing circumstances of crashes, and relationship to various roadway environments (work zones, traffic congestion, weather, etc.).
  • Assists in tracking and reporting on the Division's strategic direction and safety plans (such as, Missouri’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan); and assists in the development of various safety reports.
  • Assists with analyzing necessary roadway safety data for grant applications and grant contracts.
  • Supports assigned programs by providing technical assistance to engineering staff.
  • Conducts presentations; serves as a contact for program-related roadway safety data questions and inquiries; attends, conducts, and coordinates training, meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Advises and assists in identifying acceptable business practices, procedures, and record keeping practices for roadway safety data.
  • Manages access to operation-related software, databases, or devices conveying roadway safety data.
  • Develops customized reports; identifies, analyzes, researches, and prepares data and/or reports related to performance measures, and best practices; reviews and/or modifies department contracts and prepares for execution by the Commission.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.
Qualifications - All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: Business Administration, Data Sciences, Statistics, Accounting, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field, OR
  • Four years of experience in positions related to data management, accounting, auditing, business analysis or review, highway safety, or technical experience in transportation data or related positions.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Remote work from a MoDOT facility outside of Jefferson City may be considered.
