The State of New Hampshire, Department of Education, Division of Workforce Innovation and Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation has a part-time vacancy for a Program Assistant II.
Summary:
To perform paraprofessional duties assisting the Coordinator of New Hampshires Older Blind Program within Services for the Blind and Vision-Impaired.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS:Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in business administration, administrative support or a related field.
License/Certification:
Valid drivers license and/or access to transportation for use in statewide travel

Responsibilities:
DETAILED TASKS (AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC):
Plans and coordinates a comprehensive filing system, inventory management protocol, and other office practices, guaranteeing efficient and effective office and program operations for the Sight Services for Independent Living (SSIL) Program Coordinator.
Develops operational policies and procedures with the SSIL Program Coordinator, to include: standard practices for distributing low-vision aids, access technologies, and other items to SSIL consumers. Manages low vision aid inventory by placing orders, and packaging and mailing aids and appliances for circulation to SSIL consumers.
Receives and processes referrals for SSIL by accurately entering consumer information into the case management system, including processing of invoices to pay all SSIL-related obligations. Receives new eye reports for Legal Blind Registry requests and updates, in consultation with the person responsible for managing the State of New Hampshire Blindness Registry Program.
Manages, maintains, and recommends policy or procedural changes or alternate work methods to improve the electronic filing system that will preserve individual consumer case records and other relevant information. Secures documents prerequisite to opening and closing a case required for maintaining comprehensive consumer files.Provides administrative support by preparing standardized agency forms, drafting correspondence, reading and sorting mail, compiling documents to scan to electronic files, answering phones and sending and receiving faxes. Provides administrative support to the SSIL Program Coordinator in the office or out in the field as necessary.
Provides program guidance and advisement to program participants, students, or other interested parties. Researches complex consumer challenges and identifies alternative sources for other similar services when the services from SSIL cannot be delivered. Develops, in consultation with the SSIL Program Coordinator, a comprehensive Information and Referral (IandR) system.
Records meeting minutes during regularly scheduled Peer Support Groups.
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Administrator of SBVI or the SSIL Program Coordinator to ensure the effective administration of the SSIL program.
