The Telework Policy exempts employees who live more than 50 miles from their primary work location from the 50% office requirement to help the State of Minnesota benefit from top talent in every corner of the state.

MDH relies heavily on grant funding, in addition to state appropriated dollars. As an agency, we continually monitor fundinglevels and navigate some degree of uncertainty to grant cycles and the impact of the grant funding on program priorities. Thisposition is currently funded and approved to be filled. While the position is funded, at this time, future funding is dependent onthe continuation of our funding sources. The Minnesota Department of Health works proactively to sustain programs andmaintain our workforce, to avoid reductions in force to the very best of our ability. In the event of a loss of funding resulting Ina necessary workforce reduction, that process is governed by our collective bargaining agreements and compensation plans.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

Three (3) years of experience in finance or accounting, including:

  • Experience in financial analysis, reconciliation, and budget oversight within large-scale grant programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial trends, identify issues proactively, and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex financial data into clear, actionable reports.

Minimum qualifications to be assessed during the interview process:

  • Strong understanding of federal and Minnesota legislation, policies, and procedures related to grants and financial management.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and reporting software such as SWIFT, OBIEE, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing regulations, priorities, and organizational needs.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state grants management, including compliance with the Federal Uniform Administrative, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements (2 CFR Part 200).

A business administration, accounting or related degree will substitute for experience as follows: Doctorate degree may substitute for two years of experience; master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; associate degree may substitute for six months of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the legislative process and experience contributing to policy analysis or legislative proposals related to grants management.
  • Experience working on large federal award programs, especially within health or public health sectors.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis, visualization tools, and business intelligence software

Additional Requirements

This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment reference check.
