Department Information

The Colorado Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has three major operational divisions: Army National Guard, Air National Guard, and Veterans Affairs. Description of Job

This position is part of the Executive Director's branch, Accounting Services division and is located at our Joint Forces Headquarters in Centennial. This division provides budget, accounting, and financial reporting services for DMVA. This position performs a variety of duties for the department to include, but not limited to:

  • accounts receivable and cooperative agreement federal billing;
  • posting all cash receipts and received checks, creating cash receipt documents, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, clearing accounts receivable balances by program, and recording and depositing checks received in the office;
  • providing first level review of system requisition document for proper coding and funding verification, ensuring supporting documentation, approvals, vendor information, line descriptions and coordinating with initiators to ensure compliance;
  • reconciling balance sheet accounts and payroll postings, making necessary adjusting entries and providing variance analysis to the Controller;
  • coordinate Colorado Guard on Active Duty billing and tracking activities to include payroll, purchase cards, federal equipment billing, to verify transactional recording and coding as well as backup data, reconciling with other departmental staff to identify issues and rectify errors;
  • management of employee travel processes and procedures, reconciling by activity, to ensure proper coding, posting of payment transactions, and submitting for approval.

Minimum Qualifications
:

Experience Only:
Four (4) years of professional experience in an accounts receivable position (please detail this in your experience on your on-line application.

OR

Education and Experience:
A combination of related education (coursework requires 27 semester hours completed in accounting or auditing) and/or accounts receivable experience equal to four (4) years.

Current, valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy will substitute for four (4) years of education

OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting. PLEASE ATTACH UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS TO YOUR ON-LINE APPLICATION.

Preferred Qualification:

Individuals with prior State Accounting experience and/or experience with CORE are preferred.
