Job Description

Position Summary
The Painter Prep Technician at Rock Pest Control is responsible for preparing residential and commercial structures for painting and repair by addressing exterior damage, replacing materials, and ensuring surfaces are structurally sound and ready for finishing. This role requires a highly skilled, detail-oriented individual who can complete repairs such as siding replacement, wood rot remediation, vent replacement, and general exterior fixes caused by age, weather, or wildlife. The technician must be comfortable working at heights, operating lifts, and interacting professionally with customers while delivering efficient, high-quality workmanship.

  • Repairs are completed correctly the first time, leaving structures fully restored and ready for painting or further service.
  • Exterior issues such as wood rot, damaged siding, and vent failures are identified and resolved proactively.

  • Customers feel confident in the workmanship and professionalism of Rock Pest Control.
  • Jobs are completed safely, with proper use of ladders, lifts, and tools in all conditions.

Objectives (Key Results Areas)

  • Inspect exterior structures to identify damage caused by age, water, or wildlife and determine proper repair methods.
  • Remove and replace siding, repair wood rot, and restore structural integrity to damaged areas.
  • Replace vents, seal openings, and complete exclusion-style repairs that protect the home from future damage.
  • Perform general handyman repairs to prepare surfaces for painting or additional service work.
  • Work in attics, on roofs, and in tight spaces to complete necessary repairs thoroughly.
  • Safely operate ladders and lifts while completing repairs at various heights.
  • Maintain strong time management by completing jobs efficiently while upholding quality standards.
  • Communicate clearly with customers, explaining repairs and maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Keep tools, materials, and work areas clean, organized, and job-ready at all times.
  • Document completed work and communicate updates to management and team members for seamless coordination.

Education and Experience

Initial 90-Day Onboarding Period
The first 90 days serve as a mutual evaluation period to ensure culture, performance, and technical alignment. Both parties assess fit, commitment, and consistency.

Licensing and Certification Requirements
Any required safety certifications for ladder and lift operation will be supported and must be maintained. Ongoing training in exterior repair and safety practices is expected.

Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in exterior repair, construction, handyman services, or a related trade preferred. Experience with siding, wood repair, and structural fixes is required.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs regularly.
Must be comfortable working on ladders and at heights, including roofs and multi-story structures.
Must be able to operate lifts safely.
Must be able to work in attics, crawl spaces, and tight or dirty environments.
Must be able to stand, bend, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
