Job Description

Process Engineer. ASKA USA Corporation has an opening in Frankfort, Kentucky for a Process Engineer who will play a crucial role in optimizing automated welding processes, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring quality and safety in manufacturing settings.Job Duties: Develop and optimize robotic spot welding, arc welding, and handling applications to improve cycle time, quality, and cost-efficiency; Work closely with customers, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers to develop new automation processes and enhance existing ones; Conduct time studies and process optimization initiatives to increase throughput and reduce waste; Provide technical support to production teams in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving welding automation system issues; Ensure that welding systems meet quality standards and specifications; Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, such as implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles; Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, quality, and design engineering to support automation integration projects; Provide training and support to production staff on new processes, tools, and technologies to ensure successful implementation; Create and maintain detailed process documentation, system specifications, and operator manuals; Generate reports and present findings to leadership regarding system performance, improvements, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Domestic travel up to 10% of the time to customer facilities.Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering Management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (foreign equiv. degree accepted) and 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or closely related.Also requires: 2 years of experience troubleshooting automated welding equipment, including robotic welding guns, welding jigs, and vision systems; Designing with Autodesk Inventor, specializing in automation, robotics, and welding systems; CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor) for designing manufacturing layouts and processes; Manufacturing systems, lean principles, and Six Sigma methodologies; Data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Minitab) for process improvement and performance monitoring; Welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.) and their integration into automation systems; Troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, and software issues related to automation systems; Analytical and root cause analysis skills to drive system improvements; Technical writing skills for preparing reports and documentation, including risk assessments and process specifications; Cross-department collaboration; and Familiarity with both Japanese Manufacturing Standards (JIS) and US Manufacturing Standards (ANSI, ASME, ASTM).Experience may be gained concurrentlyTo apply, email tito@askausa.com.
