About the role:
The Facilities Manager leads facility operations, including the planning, maintenance, and continuous improvement of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure. This role establishes and executes facility strategy to ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable environment that supports production and business operations.
This role directly leads and develops a team of maintenance and facilities personnel, setting expectations, driving accountability, and ensuring execution across all facility-related activities.
The Facilities Manager oversees building systems and infrastructure across multiple disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and general building systems, ensuring strong equipment reliability and cost effective performance.
The role sets priorities, allocates resources, and ensures work is executed effectively through a combination of internal teams and external partners. It also supports long term facility planning, including capital improvements and infrastructure upgrades, and partners with site leadership to align facility strategy with business priorities and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead facility operations, including building systems, infrastructure, and space planning
Lead, develop, and hold a team of maintenance and facilities technicians accountable for performance, safety, and execution, including performance management, coaching, and workforce planning
Set priorities and direct maintenance and facility activities based on production needs and business impact
Establish and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
Own facility performance, including equipment uptime, maintenance effectiveness, and reliability
Define and track key performance indicators related to equipment uptime, maintenance effectiveness, and facility performance
Plan, budget, and oversee facility modifications and capital projects, including cost estimates, timelines, and execution
Oversee construction, installation, and repair activities to ensure alignment with scope, standards, and operational requirements
Manage contractors, vendors, and service providers, including janitorial and facility services, ensuring quality, performance, and adherence to scope
Partner with environmental, health, and safety leadership to ensure compliance and reinforce a strong safety culture, with site level responsibility for execution
Manage facility systems related to safety and security, including alarms and building infrastructure
Own and manage the facilities budget, including forecasting, cost control, and capital planning
Identify and mitigate facility and operational risks, including equipment failure, infrastructure limitations, and safety risks
Establish and maintain facility standards, procedures, and documentation
Partner with production and cross functional teams to support equipment performance, maintenance needs, and operational efficiency
Ensure materials, supplies, and repair parts are available to support maintenance activities
Lead facility-related improvements, including process changes, equipment updates, and operational transitions
Carry out additional responsibilities as needed to support facility and business operations
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related technical field preferred; associate degree with relevant technical training and experience considered
7 to 10+ years of progressive experience in facilities, maintenance, or plant operations within a manufacturing or industrial environment
5+ years of leadership experience managing maintenance or facilities teams, including direct supervision of multi functional staff
Demonstrated experience managing facility operations, including building systems, infrastructure, and maintenance programs
Experience developing and managing budgets, capital projects, and facility modifications
Experience managing and holding contractors, vendors, and third party service providers accountable for performance and service delivery
Experience leading or supporting environmental, health, and safety initiatives within an operational environment
Experience working in cleanroom or controlled environments preferred
CMRT certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and general facility maintenance
Understanding of cleanroom environments, including contamination control, air handling, and operational requirements
Familiarity with regulated environments and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO, ITAR, or similar)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical instructions
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines
Effective communication skills across technical and non technical teams
Strong organizational and planning skills
Leadership skills with the ability to lead, develop, and hold teams accountable
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Work is performed in a combination of office and manufacturing environments, including cleanroom settings requiring adherence to gowning and contamination control procedures
Regular exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise
Prolonged periods of standing and walking
Frequent use of hands and arms to reach, handle, and operate tools and equipment
Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs as required
Required use of personal protective equipment, which may include safety glasses, gloves, and cleanroom gowning
