Billing Analyst Location: Columbus, OH

We are seeking a Billing Analyst to manage billing operations and analysis for our large-scale accounts. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for complex billing management, ensuring accuracy and data integrity across the board.
The Impact You’ll Make
- Billing Excellence: Verify data accuracy, identify root causes for discrepancies, and create detailed manual invoices while ensuring SOX compliance.
- Strategic Analysis: Review and resolve unbilled cycles, generate reports, and interpret EDI to draw actionable conclusions.
- Relationship Management: Serve as a proactive liaison between utilities, customers, and our internal Sales and Pricing teams.
- Process Innovation: Collaborate with IT to drive system automation and maintain comprehensive training documentation.
- Problem Solving: Independently recognize and resolve issues for problem accounts, revising errors and troubleshooting data with utilities.
What You Bring
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 3+ years in billing, finance, or a relevant business field. An energy background is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and/or MS Access for data analysis. A solid understanding of information systems and the ability to interpret technical documents is essential.
- Mindset: A proactive self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, "in-development" environments. You are resilient under stress and can prioritize conflicting demands with ease.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions & Tasks: Verify accuracy of billing data, review and analyze individual accounts making independent decisions regarding billing activities. Serve as the primary contact for large account billing management internally and externally through proactive communication with Sales and Customers, and reviewing all large account billings. Identify billing discrepancies and determine root cause of the issue. Recognize problem accounts and independently take the necessary steps to resolve issues and revise errors. Create manual invoices at a detailed customer level ensuring data integrity. Review, analyze and resolve unbilled cycles. Communicate and maintain relationships with utilities to troubleshoot issues and verify data. Work with IT to improve system-driven automation. Responsible for accurately updating and generating reports, analyze and draw appropriate conclusions. Comprehend and interpret EDI. Ensure SOX Compliance and participate in monthly close process. Work closely with the Pricing team to fully understand pricing components, ensure billing processes are aligned and stay abreast of any market driven or Utility changes that affect billing determinants. Ensure high degree of customer service for both internal and external customers. Ensure processes and training materials are documented and regularly maintained.
