Description of Job

History Colorado is seeking a highly organized, relationship-driven professional to serve as our Tribal Engagement Logistics Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Tribal and Indigenous Engagement, this role is essential to supporting our work with Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities located in, or with historic connections to, Colorado.

A central focus of this role will be supporting the implementation of Colorado State Bill HB24-1444, which requires History Colorado to create a comprehensive report by May 20, 2027. To achieve this, you will be the logistical backbone for vital government-to-government tribal consultations and community listening sessions. This position requires someone who excels at comprehensive coordination of all phases of event coordination, is deeply respectful of relationship building, and thrives in a supportive, behind-the-scenes role.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Duty 1: Event Coordination & Logistical Support


  • Manage comprehensive full-cycle logistics for tribal consultations and community
    listening sessions, both at History Colorado and on-site in tribal communities.
  • Coordinate all travel arrangements for History Colorado staff and visiting Tribal Leaders,
    including booking flights, car rentals, and hotel accommodations.
  • Oversee event details including catering, room setup, and the timely processing of
    honorariums for speakers and tribal representatives.
Job Duty 2: Community Engagement & Relationship Building
  • Serve as a welcoming, professional, and responsive point of contact for tribal
    representatives, prioritizing trust and relationship building at every touchpoint.
  • Act as a reliable resource for members of Tribal Nations, demonstrating the ability to
    understand and navigate cultural nuances when addressing needs or inquiries over the
    phone or in person.
  • Travel alongside the team to tribal communities to provide on-the-ground support during
    consultations and events.
Job Duty 3: Administration & Technology
  • Provide hands-on technology support during events, ensuring AV equipment,
    presentations, and virtual meeting links are set up and running smoothly.
  • Manage and update departmental calendars and the History Colorado website to ensure
    upcoming events and critical information are accurate and easy for the public to find.
  • Utilize Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite to track logistics, manage
    communications, and organize data for the HB24-1444 final report.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Tribal Relations: Prior experience working with Tribal Nations, Indigenous communities,
    or government-to-government relations.
  • Cultural Fluency & Protocol: Demonstrated understanding of the diverse cultural
    protocols, communication styles, and social norms of the Tribal Nations of the United
    States.
  • Trauma-Informed Approach: Awareness of the historical context of state-tribal relations
    and the ability to handle sensitive or emotional topics with high emotional intelligence
    and professional discretion.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build
    positive, respectful relationships and the capacity to listen and respond effectively to
    community needs.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and
    troubleshooting basic presentation/meeting technology. Conditions of Employment:
  • Travel: Must be willing and able to travel occasionally to tribal communities throughout
    the state and region.
  • Driver’s License: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to facilitate car
    rentals and event travel.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

  • Experience: One (1) year of experience working within Native American communities to
    include event coordination, logistics, administrative support, and/or community
    engagement.
    Or;
    Education: Two (2) years of educational experience in a field related to working within
    Native American communities to include event coordination, logistics, administrative
    support, and/or community engagement.
  • A combination of related education and/or relevant experience working within Native
    American communities to include event coordination, logistics, administrative support,
    and/or community engagement will be considered.

Fair Pay & Compensation: History Colorado is committed to pay equity. The posted salary range represents our good faith estimate for this role. Final offers are determined by a comprehensive salary analysis in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, considering factors such as a candidate’s relevant experience, education, work location and internal equity.
