Saint-Gobain Ceramics Performance Ceramics and Refractories- is part of- Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics, Inc.,- a technical leader in advanced and industrial ceramics.

Shift details: Hiring 1 st and 2 nd shift Entry Level & Experienced Operators. 1 st Shift starts at 4:30am, 2 nd shift starts between 12:30pm-1:30pm.

Pay details: Starting pay $22.23-$24.91 (plus potential shift differential for eligible shifts)

Assignments may include:

  • Hydraulic Molder (2 nd Shift): Applies a variety of methods, procedures and techniques to mold products using hydraulic, robotic and/or manual presses or molding equipment to compact mix to shape product. Forming or molding basic shapes, (i.e. plates, batts, saggers, rings or bricks) utilizing shop orders and blueprints.

  • Finishing Operator I (1 st Shift): Operator works to engineered specifications by setting up and operating various types of machines or hand tools for multiple grinding/finishing operations. Product handled may be in forms ranging from initial shaping to final finishing.

  • Kiln Setter/Drawer II (1 st Shift): Performs both setting preparations on racks, platforms, kiln cards and removal operations after firing. A Setter/Drawer II plans and builds car configurations and stacks products in specified patterns on racks, platforms, or tunnel kiln cars to prepare for loading into periodic or tunnel kilns, ovens and or furnaces for burning.

  • Packer I (1 st Shift): Responsible for packaging (by hand) a variety of small - larger ceramic components/ products by selecting the appropriate boxes/containers using detailed packing instructions, and proficiently pack materials for routine packing duties.

  • Solid Cast I (1 st Shift): Applies a variety of methods, procedures and techniques to cast large complex molds and products using solid cast and other methods. Achieves product by assembling molds, pouring mix and staging molds to dry.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent experience.

  • General manufacturing skills such as blueprint reading, intermediate math skills (measure in standard and metrics using various measuring devices such as calipers, measuring tapes, micrometers, measuring tools) and basic computers skills are required.

  • This position requires up to 3 months' work experience to become proficient in most phases of the job to work independently.

  • Candidate must have good math and measuring skills, lifting ability, and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Blue print reading is a plus.

  • Must be comfortable working in a heavy industrial factory environment.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance (may be repetitively throughout shift).

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell.

Mental & Visual Demands

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job within the manufacturing environment, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to heat, fumes or airborne dust.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Various PPE devices & equipment such as gloves, safety shoes, respirators, dust masks, hard hats, hearing protection and glasses may be required.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the local pay range for these positions, which is $22.23 to $34.59 per hour. This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for periodic bonus payments/an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of eligible earnings based on company and individual performance measures. The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate plus Bonus, annualized (40 hrs/week * 52wks)) for this position, is $50,800.00 to $82,500.00. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
