Description & Details:

North Dakota State University College of Business seeks a detail-oriented and analytically strong Business Coordinator to provide financial, budgetary, and human resources support within the College of Business. This role partners closely with the Business Manager and departmental leaders to ensure accurate financial management, payroll processing, and reporting in compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies.
This position requires advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability to manage budgets, prepare reports, reconcile accounts, and support decision-making through data.

Work Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters, and 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the summer semester.

Hiring Range: $55,000 - $57,000

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR
  • Associate’s degree with 3+ years of related experience OR
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience within a higher education or complex organizational setting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including spreadsheets used for tracking, reconciliation, reporting, and analysis).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate financial data accurately.
  • Experience with accounting principles, budget management, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree emphasis in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience using Excel for complex financial analysis, including reconciliations, projections, and reporting.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of grant, contract, or federally funded program accounting.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft/Oracle or similar enterprise systems.
  • 3–5+ years of financial or budget management experience in a complex organization.

Core Competencies:

  • Advanced Excel and spreadsheet-based data management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial work.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
