Security Officer

About the Role

SecurTec is seeking a professional and reliable Security Officers to support security operations for facilities in the City of Columbia.

In this role, you will help maintain a safe, controlled, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, clients, and visitors while performing essential security duties with a strong emphasis on professionalism, discretion, and soft-touch approaches at all times.

This is a hands-on position focused on access control, patrols, searches, and non-confrontational service delivery in support of vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor facility entrances, grounds, and surrounding areas
• Enforce safety protocols and facility policies
• Conduct searches of individuals and belongings upon entry
• Confiscate prohibited items, including weapons and drugs
• Respond to incidents, emergencies, and behavioral concerns using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques
• Support staff with resident/client engagement and non-confrontational interactions
• Complete accurate incident reports and daily activity logs
• Provide consistent communication with facility staff and leadership
• Maintain full post coverage and professional appearance throughout the overnight shift

Requirements

• Valid South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Security Registration (armed and unarmed) – required
• Trauma Informed Care (TIC) Certification (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire – company-sponsored)
• Professional appearance and customer-service-oriented mindset
• Strong situational awareness and ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends, and as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Military or law enforcement background
• Prior experience in shelter, behavioral health, or homeless services environments
• CPR / First Aid / AED certification
