CNC Manufacturing Programmer — 5‑Axis & Fixturing Specialist

Job Description

A day in the life

You start by reviewing a new aerospace drawing, extracting critical requirements, and mapping out a machining strategy. By mid-morning you’ve modeled and documented a custom fixture in SolidWorks, then generated toolpaths in Mastercam/Hypermill for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling. After lunch, you fine-tune cutting tools, simulate, and post. On the floor, you partner with machinists to validate the process, edit G-code at the control when needed, and verify results with metrology equipment—all while keeping the schedule on track.

What you’ll own

  • Translate customer part requirements into robust machining processes and standard work
  • Design and document machining fixtures; collaborate closely with production engineering
  • Program for vertical and horizontal mills (3/4/5-axis), turning, and mill-turn equipment
  • Review, read, and edit G-code to optimize cycle time and quality
  • Select and define cutting tools; design custom tooling and fixturing
  • Establish process controls and create clear, complete shop documentation
  • Oversee projects from programming through production to hit customer deadlines
  • Inspect parts using monitoring and measuring equipment to confirm conformance

What you bring

  • 5+ years CNC experience in a controlled industry (aerospace, automotive, medical, etc.)
  • Proficiency with CNC programming software (MasterCAM and Hypermill preferred)
  • Solid modeling in SolidWorks (strongly preferred)
  • Fluent reading/editing of G-code
  • Hands-on background with CNC machining, measuring tools, handheld and power tools
  • Expert print-reading with practical GD&T application
  • Working knowledge of MS Office

Tools & machines

  • 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling (vertical & horizontal), turning, mill-turn
  • Machines & technologies you'll use: CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC)
