Scrum Master/Project Manager
Location: Charlotte, NC -Hybrid (3 days work from office)
Experience: 5-8 years
The Scrum Master / Project Manager is responsible for driving end-to-end delivery of Agile projects by owning project planning, execution tracking, and stakeholder communication. This role partners closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure predictable delivery, clear visibility, and continuous improvement across Agile workflows.

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
Own and maintain end-to-end project plans, including scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.
Translate high-level business initiatives into detailed, actionable work plans aligned with team capacity, priorities, and release timelines.
Track execution progress against plan, proactively identifying risks, issues, and dependencies, and driving mitigation and resolution plans.
Lead regular project status cadence (weekly/bi‑weekly), ensuring executive and stakeholder visibility into progress, risks, and blockers.
Agile & Scrum Facilitation
Serve as Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams, facilitating Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
Coach teams on Agile and Scrum best practices to improve delivery predictability, velocity, and quality.
Remove impediments and escalates issues to ensure teams remain focused on sprint commitments.
JIRA & Delivery Management
Manage and maintain JIRA boards, backlogs, workflows, and sprint artifacts.
Partner with engineering and delivery leads to improve workflow efficiency, reporting accuracy, and delivery forecasting.
Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of Agile metrics including velocity, sprint burndown, and release progress.
Governance, Audit & Documentation
Ensure project execution aligns with organizational governance, compliance, and audit standards.
Maintain project documentation including project plans, RAID logs, status reports, and retrospectives.
Support internal and external audits by providing required delivery artifacts and documentation.
Stakeholder Communication
Act as a primary point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders, including Product, Engineering, and Leadership.
Provide clear, concise, and timely communication on project status, risks, and delivery outcomes.
Manage stakeholder expectations and drive alignment across teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Project Manager, or Agile Delivery Lead.
Strong hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Proficient in JIRA and Agile delivery tools.
Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.

The annual salary for this position is between $49,001– $90,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
