The South Dakota Department of Health is hiring a full-time Health Facilities Surveyor to assist with protecting and promoting the health and safety of residents and patients in South Dakota's licensed health care facilities. The Health Facilities Surveyor is responsible for surveying patient activities, dietary, infection control, resident rights, and physical environment. The Surveyor’s role is to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for the protection of health and safety hazards. This position requires travel, offers a daily per diem and the use of a state vehicle while conducting surveys.

The selected candidate will have to travel to one of the main office locations for in office days which are located in Rapid City, Pierre, Mitchell, and Sioux Falls.
Travel and overnight stays are required for this position.
Licenses and Certifications:
The candidate must be licensed related to their professional role, if applicable. Training for the survey process is through required online Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) courses and through precepted surveys in licensed healthcare facilities.
