Summary

This person leads sports content development, including play-by-play broadcasting, for all student-driven BG Falcon Media productions. This person ensures sports content production aligns with organizational objectives and fulfills the needs of the website, The BG News, WBGU 88.1 FM, Falcon Radio, BG Falcon Media social channels, and other BG Falcon Media products.

Essential Functions

  • With Falcon Media Manager, select key support staff including Sports Production Director
  • Coordinates work of sports content creators with brand leaders
  • Ensures sports content remains focused on local events and issues
  • Leads recruitment efforts
  • Produces content each week, ensuring fresh sports content appears at least three times per week on the website
  • Responsible for all sports broadcast programming carried on WBGU-FM and Falcon Radio, including special game events, live remote broadcasts, and derivative content for BGFalconMedia.com
  • Works with student staff and BG Falcon Media leadership to collaborate on content that serves the overall needs of the organization
  • Conducts weekly staff and and actively participates in executive team meetings
  • Establishes weekly meetings with Falcon Media Manager
  • Acts as a liaison with the University's Athletic Department in scheduling programming, talk radio content, and other content
  • Works with staff to ensure radio promos, IDs, and underwriting are executed on appropriate timelines
  • Schedules non-event shows and uses ENCO to program clocks
  • Identifies promotional and partnership opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least one year experience on staff, one year on executive staff preferred
  • Basic understanding of equipment, including remote broadcasting equipment
  • Ability to prepare and conduct radio programming that adheres to FCC guidelines
  • Preferred majors: Media Production and Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Sports Management, media-related fields
  • Minimum GPA: 2.25

Additional Information

  • This role requires approximately 10 to 12 hours per week during each semester with flexibility to align with academic schedule.
  • Stipend: $5,400 annually, intended to support educational learning outcomes.
  • This internship is eligible for academic credit with approval from student's program/coll
