Job Title: Open Recreation Attendant
Department: Campus Recreation
Location: Student Life Center, SUNY Cortland
Position Type: Work Study, Non-work study
Pay Rate: $16/hr
Hours: apprx. 10 hours per week
Job Overview:
The primary role of the Open Recreation Attendant is to monitor patrons, ensure safety, and enforce rules in designated activity areas. These areas include the Front Desk, Equipment Checkout, and Fitness Areas.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service with patrons by staying attentive, helpful, and friendly.
- Must attend all required staff training sessions and meetings.
- Enforce policies and procedures consistently and completely.
- Adhere to the department dress code (polo, athletic wear, etc.).
- Always carry a radio when on shift for building operation communications.
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies/incidents that occur while on shift.
- Complete daily tasks including:
Front Desk:
- Swiping patrons in; validating membership.
- Selling memberships and guest passes using Fusion Software System.
- Providing accurate information about services and policies to patrons.
- Answer the phone and relay information or redirect patrons to appropriate personnel when necessary.
Equipment Checkout:
- Following proper procedure for renting/selling equipment using Fusion Software System.
- Properly wash, dry, and fold laundry for building operational use.
- Maintain accurate inventory, along with completing inventory reports.
- Direct patrons to the Campus Recreation Office when equipment is past allotted rental period.
Cardio/Weight Area Attendant:
- Supervising all fitness spaces in the Student Life Center for safety.
- Report/Document broken or malfunctioning equipment.
- Completing fitness cleaning reports.
Qualifications:
- To be considered for this position, candidates must be actively enrolled students in good academic standing with the university.
- Must be CPR/FA/AED certified or obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Must be Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong leadership abilities and the capability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe facility that promotes wellness and inclusion.
Days/Hours Needed
Monday through Sunday according to building operation hours and employee’s availability.
