Are you a WorkSafe Nominated Class A Asbestos Removalist who can self-manage and has a strong background in Asbestos Removal and Remediation, deconstruction and decontamination? We are looking for someone who thinks on their feet and can identify and overcome the challenges that exist with Asbestos, decontamination and deconstruction related works. Decon Limited have a track record of high-profile asbestos removal, deconstruction and decontamination projects in high profile commercial, school, residential and industrial environments. We have a strong background in the industry and proven track record on projects for key clients and are looking for someone to stand up and lead one of our site teams. We are seeking to employ a Decontamination / Deconstruction Supervisor who has been approved by WorkSafe to be nominated on a Class “A” Asbestos removal license; currently nominated to a licence or able to be nominated. You must be keen, self-motivated and well presented with a positive team attitude. The ideal candidate will oversee and manage projects in compliance with regulations and company standards. Manual demolition experience and running sites is highly desirable and will be considered a significant advantage. You will require a driver’s license, and you will be required to undergo pre-employment health checks & drug testing. We undertake work in schools and airports that require police vetting and / or security clearance, therefore the applicant must disclose all criminal convictions unless covered by the Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Act 2004. The applicant must have a criminal record that allows them to work in these environments thus a declaration of criminal record must be provided as part of pre-employment screening. Please Note – The role is advertised in Whangarei, but work can be North Island wide, and some travel and stay-away work is expected (majority of work is local). Key Responsibilities • Asbestos Removal Supervision: Oversee the safe and efficient removal of friable and non- friable asbestos materials in compliance with relevant legislation (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act and WorkSafe guidelines). Conduct pre-start risk assessments and help develop removal control plans. Supervise the asbestos removal team to ensure adherence to safety protocols. • Project Supervision: Act as lead on site to coordinate with clients, project managers, our staff / team, and other stakeholders to ensure project timelines and specifications are met. Maintain accurate project documentation. • Compliance and Safety: Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are maintained and used correctly. Ensure all team members are appropriately trained and compliant with safety standards. Report incidents and non-compliance issues promptly. • Manual Demolition: Site Supervising or Support demolition projects requiring physical dismantling of structures. Operate tools and equipment related to manual demolition safely and effectively. Qualifications and Experience • Mandatory Requirements: Current Class A Asbestos Supervisor WorkSafe nomination. Proven experience supervising and leading asbestos removal projects. Strong knowledge of industry regulations and best practices. Valid driver’s license. • Desirable Skills: Hands-on experience in manual demolition, mould and hygiene related projects. Familiarity with operating demolition equipment and tools. Experience in managing teams in high-risk environments. • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, proactive planning and working leadership capabilities. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Effective communication with clients and team members.
