Overview

Join our team supporting students with visual and/or hearing impairments. This role combines hands-on teaching with a fully supported, paid pathway to licensure.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree (education preferred) and be willing to complete a paid online master’s program to become a Wisconsin DPI-licensed Teacher of the Visually Impaired or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. You’ll begin working right away with mentorship and a gradually increasing caseload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
  • Provide instruction in academics, communication, and functional skills
  • Use assistive technology and tools (e.g., Braille, visual supports, sign language)
  • Collaborate with therapists, audiologists, and school teams
  • Monitor student progress and conduct assessments
  • Support families, caregivers, and classroom staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (education preferred; other degrees considered)
  • Must be willing and able to complete a paid online master’s/licensure program
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Interest in working with students with sensory impairments

All specialized skills are taught through your graduate program and on-the-job training with full support.
