Job Title: Music Instructor

Employment Type: Part Time

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and skilled Music Instructor to join our performing arts studio. The ideal candidate will inspire students of varying ages and skill levels, foster a positive learning environment, and contribute to a vibrant, creative community. This role involves teaching individual and/or group lessons, supporting student growth, and participating in studio performances and events. Our music instructors teach at our studio locations in North Kingstown as well as our in-school music programs at several private schools in Rhode Island.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality music instruction in one or more areas (e.g., voice, piano, guitar, percussion, ukulele, early childhood music or other instruments)
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to students’ goals, abilities, and learning styles
  • Prepare students for recitals, performances and auditions.
  • Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that encourages creativity and confidence
  • Track student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and, when appropriate, parents/guardians
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff to support studio programming and events
  • Maintain punctuality, professionalism, and clear communication with students and team members
  • Assist with organizing and participating in studio showcases, workshops, and community events

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience teaching music
  • Strong proficiency in at least one instrument or vocal instruction
  • Multi-instrumental or cross-disciplinary abilities preferred
  • Background in music education, performance, or a related field (degree preferred but not required)
  • Ability to teach students of different ages and skill levels
  • Experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Enthusiasm for the performing arts and student development
  • Proficiency in Music Theory and the ability to teach fundamental concepts
  • Background Check required

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends
  • Compensation based on experience ($23-$40 per hour)
