Bakery Assistant (Part-Time / 1099 Contractor)

Job Description

Hudson Valley Breads is a micro sourdough bakery rooted in slow fermentation, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a deep love for bread. We’re looking for someone who finds joy in working with their hands and being part of the rhythm of a working bakery.

Schedule:

  • Thursdays & Fridays, 2:00–6:00 PM
  • Occasional Saturdays (about once a month)
  • Location: Croton on Hudson, NY 10520

Compensation: $20/hour (1099 contractor)

Scope of Work:

  • Mix doughs and assist with daily production
  • Shape and handle breads with care and attention
  • Support baking and oven work
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and running smoothly
  • Wash dishes, tools, and equipment
  • Help reset the space at the end of each shift

Ideal Candidates:

  • You love bread—eating it, making it, learning about it
  • You bring a positive attitude and enjoy being part of a small team
  • You’re quick on your feet and able to adapt as the day unfolds
  • You’re comfortable working with your hands in a fast-paced, physical environment
  • You can lift up to 50 lbs
  • You’re reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • You take pride in doing things well, even the small tasks

This is a hands-on role in a shared commissary kitchen where every task matters. You’ll be part of the full process—from flour to finished loaf—and an environment that values both craft and care. Upon hiring, the candidate must obtain the ServSafe Food Handler Certificate
