Job Description

THIS POSITION IS UNCLASSIFIED & EXEMPT FROM CLASSIFIED SERVICE PURSUANT TO ORC 124.11 (A) (9).

The Ohio Industrial Commission (OIC), Office of Information Technology, is seeking an experienced project manager. The ideal candidate must be able to manage a project or projects from ideation through execution to completion. The ideal candidate should be able to manage schedules, issues, risks and have excellent communication skills.

Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, with thorough knowledge of project management, manages & coordinates multiple Information Technology (IT) & business solution projects whose primary stakeholders are the agency executives responsible for service & product delivery.

  • Applies appropriate project management methodologies & enforces project standards.
  • Directs development & implementation of project planning documents (e.g., schedules management plan, scope management plan, quality management plan, risk management plan, communication plan, change management plan, implementation plan).
  • Creates & executes project work plans & revises as needed to meet changing requirements.
  • Reviews deliverables & ensures that project documents are complete, current & archived appropriately.
  • Sets & manages client expectations while continually seeking to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Facilitates client meetings effectively & communicates relevant project information to superiors.
  • Develops & implements policies relating to project management.
  • Promotes project management best practices across the agency through project management training’s, certifications, & developing guidelines.
  • Develops, maintains, & promotes agency’s project management methodology.
  • Works with Office of Information Technology Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) Statewide IT Policy to implement & monitor project management policies.

Qualifications
3 yrs. exp. in project management (i.e., management & development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing/pilot, training & full scale implementation), with experience to be commensurate with project/program &/or position description on file (e.g., specific human service program area, management information sciences, fiscal); 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.

  • Or Successful completion of 2 yrs. post-secondary education majoring in business administration, public administration, computer science/information technology, social science, or health, with major being commensurate with project to be assigned; 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Supplemental Information

This position is filled through an assessment consisting of a structured interview to be administered in person at the William Green Building in Columbus, Ohio.

This is an on-site position and in-office presence is required.

This position may require travel; therefore, the person occupying this position must be able to provide his/her own transportation &/or legally operate a state-owned vehicle.
