K - 6 Art Teacher (Anticipated)

Full Time K-6 Art Teacher

Garner Hayfield Ventura Community School District (GHV) is seeking a passionate and creative K-6 Art Teacher to join our team. This position serves our kindergarten through sixth grade students in a smaller, close-knit district. Strong relationships, student engagement, and community pride are central to our work.

Position Overview

The K-6 Art Teacher will design and deliver engaging, standards-based art instruction that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students across multiple grade levels and values the opportunity to shape a strong, comprehensive art program.

Responsibilities

• Teach three sections for each grade level
• Develop engaging, age-appropriate lessons in a variety of media and techniques
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and risk-taking
• Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback
• Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring art classroom
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive school culture
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and administration
• Participate in school activities and professional development opportunities

Qualifications

• Valid Iowa teaching license with Art endorsement
• Ability to connect with students across a wide range of ages and abilities
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Willingness to contribute to a small-school environment where flexibility and teamwork are valued
