The State of New Hampshire, Judicial Branch, 2nd Circuit Court has a full-time vacancy for Court Clerk V . This position is assigned to a 9-step pay scale. Hiring typically occurs within steps 1-5, depending on education and experience. Please submit a resume and cover letter along with your application.

Summary : This is a high-level management class supervising the administrative operations of a clerk’s office in one or more Circuit Court location. Positions in the class are distinguished by the degree of administrative responsibility, the number of employees supervised, and the size and complexity of caseload. An employee in this position will be required to travel during the regular course of business. A home court designation will be made by the Chief Judge, and the successful candidate will receive travel reimbursements from that home court designation. An employee in this position may be subject to transfer or reassignment at the discretion of the Chief Judge.


Reporting Lines

Reports to the Circuit Court Administrator and/or their designee. Has supervisory responsibility over non-judicial staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Preferred graduation from a four-year college or university, a related higher education degree in law, public, or business administration. Experience in court or related administrative work with a minimum of four years in a supervisory capacity. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Other Requirements:

Successful completion of a background check, including a criminal records check.

Responsibilities:

Plans, organizes, and manages all aspects of case processing including the assignment of all supervisory and case processing staff.

Supervises all fiscal transactions including the maintenance of journals, ledgers, and accounts; the processing of all fines, fees, bail and other costs paid to the court, and directs disbursement of funds paid to the state, county, city, or town.

Reviews correspondence and responds to written inquiries concerning court functions and activities.

Serves as court liaison with the public, bar, other courts, agencies, news media, and branches of government.

Assigns counsel in indigent defense cases and is responsible for all related activities.

Implements changes in procedures relating to case processing, issuance of writs, docketing of instruments, indexing, receipts and disbursement of money, storage, and the transfer of court records, responsible for the management of all active and inactive court records.

Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates performance, promotes, disciplines, and terminates non-judicial personnel, assigns work of all non-judicial personnel employed by the court.

Performs quasi-judicial functions as authorized by the court.

Performs related work as required.
