Summary:
The purpose of this position is to perform custodial work in the care, cleaning, and general maintenance of the main Cleveland County Health and Social Services Building.
Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures, supplemented by instructions on new or unusual assignments. The worker exercises some independent judgment and initiative in determining what is appropriate for an area or request. He/she must follow product directions on cleaners or products he/she will be using in the performance of his/her job. The employee is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, fumes, odors, and dust. Tasks involve continuing physical effort requiring efficient performance of duties. Work in the cleaning of buildings is subject to the final standards of OSHA blood borne pathogens. Courtesy is required in contact with the public.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:
" Facility setup & moving: Move office furniture, file cabinets, tables, and chairs; set up/take down conference rooms; transport items between floors; assist with loading/unloading and daily freight delivery.
" Maintenance & repairs: Fix chairs, stools, desks, and exam tables; assemble items; report needed repairs; perform monthly fire extinguisher checks; change flags as needed.
" Cleaning & sanitation (interior): Maintain bathrooms, offices, exam rooms, lobbies, and common areas; sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, polish, clean glass, and handle spills.
" Cleaning & sanitation (exterior): Sweep and pressure wash entrances/sidewalks; remove trash around the building; treat lawn areas for fire ants (weather permitting).
" Supply & support tasks: Restock restroom supplies, store cleaning materials, hang fixtures (pictures, boards, wall files), wash windows/doors, and deliver supplies to clinic/office areas.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or GED and one (1) year experience in housekeeping, custodial work or building cleaning type work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
" Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
" Ability to identify cleaning needs and address with appropriate methods and supplies.
" Ability to perform manual labor requiring continuous physical effort.
" Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
" Ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies.
" Ability to deal courteously with the public.
" Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisor and other employees.

Work Location:
This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.

In the event that the State Emergency Response Team is activated, this position will be required to participate if deemed necessary.
