About Us
Penguin City Swim is New York City's highest-rated independent swim school — 5 stars across 200+ verified reviews — partnering with top private schools, summer camps, and residential venues throughout the city. We're growing and looking for a leader who shares our standard of excellence.
The Role
This is a senior Aquatics and Operations leadership position reporting directly to the Owner. You will own the full operation — aquatics programming, staffing, sales team management, partner relationships, and day-to-day execution across all locations. You bring deep experience running aquatics programs, a swim team background, and the organizational horsepower to keep a multi-site operation running at the highest level.
What You'll Do
Aquatics & Programming
- Lead, develop, and manage swim instructors across all locations
- Build and maintain seasonal schedules in Jackrabbit, ensuring seamless enrollment and coverage
- Maintain the highest standards of instruction quality, safety, and facility cleanliness
- Teach and demonstrate in the water during summer camp season as needed
Partnerships & Institutional Relations
- Serve as senior liaison to all school and residential building partners
- Coordinate with camp partners on staffing, scheduling, and full program management
- Ensure on-site supervisors and greeters are executing at a high level
Sales, Marketing & Business Development
- Manage and hold accountable the sales team — ensuring all leads are followed up on promptly and closed with urgency and professionalism
- Own the sales pipeline and drive new client enrollment and partnership growth
- Maintain a marketing calendar and coordinate with the marketing team on newsletters, seasonal campaigns, and social media submissions
- Identify opportunities to grow enrollment, expand partnerships, and increase revenue
Operations & Payroll
- Oversee day-to-day operations across all locations
- Ensure all instructor hours are accurately tracked and submitted in real time
- Proactively catch and correct discrepancies — if a class cancels, the timesheet reflects it
Schedule
- Saturdays and Sundays: required on-property — non-negotiable
- Remote work permitted for administrative duties when on-site presence is not required
What We're Looking For
- Required: Proven experience as an Aquatics Director for camps and/or structured swim programming — you've run a full operation, not just taught lessons
- Strongly preferred: Swim team coaching background (age group, club, or school-level)
- Experience managing a sales team and driving enrollment growth
- A natural leader and communicator — professional, accountable, and clear in writing and in person
- Skilled at managing institutional partnerships and a diverse instructor team
- CPR/AED/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
- Jackrabbit experience a plus
Compensation & Structure
- Full-time | Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Sales incentive: 5% commission on new clients generated through outbound outreach (after 5 completed sessions)
- Remote flexibility for administrative work
- A genuine opportunity to help shape and grow a company that is already among the best in its category
