Athletic Facilities Technician

Sporting Facilities Technician | Red Clay Specialist Are you a hands-on professional who takes pride in the details? Do you enjoy the satisfaction of maintaining a pristine environment for play? We are looking for a Facilities Technician to join our team and play a vital role in preserving the quality and performance of our premier red clay tennis courts and campus grounds.

Working closely with the Clay Court Manager, you will ensure our members and guests enjoy world-class conditions every time they step onto the court.

What You’ll Do As a key member of our team, your daily mission involves the art and science of clay court maintenance and broader campus upkeep:

• Court Artistry: Water, drag, brush, and line courts daily. You’ll manage clay depth and use rollers to ensure perfect surface firmness and stability.
  
  
• Infrastructure Care: Monitor irrigation systems, inspect for drainage issues, and perform minor leveling and repairs to keep surfaces safe and consistent.
  
  
• Event Excellence: Prepare surfaces for high-stakes matches, practices, and tournaments, including event setup and teardown.
  
  
• Campus Upkeep: Maintain the surrounding activity areas, including nets, fences, and walkways. You’ll operate a variety of equipment (utility vehicles, blowers, rollers) to keep the grounds immaculate.
  
  
• Safety & Standards: Regularly monitor outdoor spaces for hazards and ensure all areas meet our high appearance and safety standards.
  
  

What You Bring

• Experience: Previous experience with clay tennis courts or turf and field maintenance is highly preferred.
  
  
• Physical Resilience: Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds and a comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  
  
• Technical Savvy: A basic understanding of irrigation or drainage systems is a plus; ability to operate maintenance equipment safely.
  
  
• Precision: A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining elite standards.
  
  
• Flexibility: A team-player mindset with the ability to work independently and the flexibility to support extended hours during major tournaments or special events.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:
● Water courts before and after play to maintain appropriate moisture levels
● Drag, brush, and line courts daily to maintain surface consistency and visual quality
● Roll courts as needed to ensure firmness and stability of the playing surface
● Maintain proper clay depth and add clay material when necessary
● Inspect courts regularly for cracks, low spots, drainage issues, or surface irregularities
● Perform minor repairs and leveling to maintain safe and playable surfaces
● Report significant maintenance concerns to the Clay Court Manager
● Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure consistent watering of courts
● Clean surrounding areas including nets, fences, walkways, and player areas
● Remove debris from activity spaces and adjacent hard surfaces
● Routinely monitor outdoor activity spaces for safety hazards
● Assist with general upkeep of the clay court facilities and surrounding grounds
● Prepare courts for matches, practices, tournaments, and special events
● Assist with event set ups and tear downs
● Ensure courts consistently meet safety, playability, and appearance standards
● Support operational needs of the racquet sports program when required
● Assist in all aspects of facility maintenance, including but not limited to basic equipment repair, preventative and corrective work, and supervision of facility usage
● Operate a variety of outdoor and indoor facility maintenance equipment (blowers, utility vehicles, rollers, etc.)
● Other duties as assigned
