What you will do:
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of QA/QC inspectors across multiple projects
- Ensure inspectors are effectively deployed and providing adequate site coverage
- Review inspector performance, documentation, and adherence to standards
- Provide coaching and guidance on technical, safety, and compliance matters
Quality & Compliance Management
- Ensure all inspection activities align with company standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements (NESC, OSHA, etc.)
- Establish consistency in inspection methods, reporting, and documentation across the team
- Oversee resolution of non-conformance issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Support complex field decisions and escalate critical issues when necessary
Safety Leadership
- Promote a strong safety culture across all inspection activities
- Ensure inspectors actively enforce safety standards and exercise stop-work authority when required
- Partner with company safety teams on major incidents, investigations, and corrective actions
Project Oversight
- Coordinate inspection coverage across pre-construction, construction, and closeout phases
- Monitor project progress, risks, and inspection findings across multiple job sites
- Participate in key meetings (kickoffs, status reviews, closeouts) with stakeholders
- Ensure proper execution of inspections for testing, commissioning, and energization activities
Reporting & Documentation
- Review and approve inspector deliverables including daily logs, weekly reports, and final inspection reports
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all documentation
- Provide summary reporting to company leadership on quality, safety, and performance trends
- Maintain oversight of issue logs, RFIs, and change tracking
Process Improvement
- Standardize inspection procedures, tools, and best practices across the team
- Identify recurring issues and implement corrective or preventative measures
- Lead lessons learned and continuous improvement efforts
What you will bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5+ years experience with construction, underground utility installation, locating, surveying, mapping, and/or design.
- Strong understanding of OSHA, PHMSA, NESC, and state utility regulations preferred.
- Knowledge of 49 CFR 192 & 195 regulations preferred.
- Familiarity with operator qualifications and polyethylene joining methods preferred.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.
